Where do we get the information we need to create fully personalized experiences? Below are three types of sources from which we draw, needed in the personalization process, information about our audience.
It used to be said that certain things cannot be bought, but eBay has already seen a lot of goods that cannot be bought, so the creators of the portal probably will not be surprised by anything anymore. Sometimes the strangest business ideas turn out to be the most successful, and sometimes not - on the net we find them all, mixed with each other and without division into categories. After all, what is not on the Internet, is not in the world. We have selected for you a subjective list of the strangest items sold through eBay.
How do they differ from each other? How to choose wisely between personalization and customization? And what does science say about this?
Stefan slowly got used to the next start of the day at the office. Inevitably, the moment of looking at the post office was approaching — a wall of unread emails collapsed on it. Only some of them had anything to do with his work, the others were spam, offers, incentives to subscribe to newsletters or invitations to meetings. He went through the first few and took a look at the topic “Do you make a mass? It gives the best results...” — you don't. The second message shouted straight to him: “Stefan! Promotion for the best boneless loin” — and are lentils for vegetarians? So many emails, and none of them were sent to him. He opened the next one, although his eyelids were getting heavy...

Do you remember the movie “Forrest Gump”? Certainly yes. In it, we can glimpse the extraordinary life of a not very bright boy who, due to various coincidences, appears wherever something important for US history is happening, and by the way he meets the greatest figures of his era - and this is dancing with Elvis Presley, and this is what you can see in the photo with John. F. Kennedy, and this is talking to John Lennon. In addition, all this before the era of the Internet, which made it possible for everyone to know everything about everything and be everywhere in a matter of seconds. Well, now omnipresence is a little less of a feat — especially with virtual reality, so if we haven't been as lucky as Forrest so far, now we can help happiness from the perspective of the couch in the living room.
He's got a brain. A sponge that absorbs both useful and useless things. Linked by millions of connections. Like a public transport network — tangled, confused, yet organized. A feeling or a loose thought is like riding a tram — we choose the right one, but we don't really have any influence on how it goes or what happens along the way. It's the same with the subconscious — some decisions are made by holding the wheel, while others are just a tube in a tram guided by our intuition. Or rather, riding with a black blindfold, sitting in the back seat. Especially when shopping.
The UX design process of new solutions should involve two parties equally: customers and designers. This significantly affects the quality of work and the sense of control over the task at hand.
For 3 years we have been sending to more than 6000 readers an overview of the most interesting articles from the UX world
Today is Intergenerational Solidarity Day, so get your grandparents, parents or kids to read. And to choose from accessible texts on neuroscience in design, examples of the use of deepfake technique and regaining control over the digital world. You can also listen to lectures on human nature, and UX/UI designers have the opportunity to comment on their work experience in a survey.
On World Art Day, we invite you to the text gallery, where you will find, among others, articles on speculative and convergent design and advice on creating environmentally friendly websites. There will also be inspiration from typography creators, reflections on the correct layout of the website and comments on providing constructive feedback.
On the occasion of International Bird Day, we check out what the Internet sparrows have been tweeting about recently. In addition to articles for which the starting point was a high-profile auction of graphics sold for 69 million dollars, you will find texts about increasing the availability of published content, heuristic analysis and color selection. There was also a corner of inspiration in today's roundup — take a break from following tweets and take a look at Instagram.
On the occasion of the European Brain Day, we start with a solid dose of reflection on good and bad design practices. To stimulate gray cells, we also propose texts about interfaces of mobile devices, algorithms for evaluating UX and ways to successfully debut a digital product. There will also be advice for graphic and UX designers. For fans of puzzles in the graphics, we have hidden one more of the holidays falling today - have fun!
We celebrate the International Day of the Master of the Game with a slightly enlarged set of lyrics. Review them all, or let the dice roll decide whether to choose a description of gamification mechanisms, notes on service design, and one of the texts on customer-specific design decisions. You can also stop by articles on the UX design process and two guides to UX research methods.
